Performance
For all of the Cherokee’s robust looks, it remains an extremely comfortable ride. However, the Cherokee isn’t without power, and Jeep offers a choice of Diesel engines. The 2.0-litre MultiJet II Turbo boasts 53.3mpg on a combined cycle for impressive fuel efficiency with CO2 from only 139g/km. The 2.2-litre MultiJet II Turbo boasts a 49.6mpg and is available in two different HP versions, 185HP or 200HP. If power is your priority, Jeep has introduced a 3.2-litre V6 petrol engine in the Trailhawk® trim that delivers a staggering 268bhp.
The 2.2-litre MultiJet II Turbo is available with Jeep Active Drive, which is perfect if you require an SUV 4x4 system that’s easy to use. Pair this with either a six-speed manual or a fuel-saving nine-speed automatic gearbox and you have a very dependable off-road vehicle.
Technology and safety
Jeep packs the Cherokee with technology throughout, including its Uconnect™ five-inch infotainment system with touchscreen as standard on its Longitude trim level. Longitude+ and Limited models upgrade to an 8.4-inch display. A wireless charging unit is introduced in its centre storage (limited trim level only), which is extra handy on long journeys. The Selec-Terrain™ traction control system comes as standard and optimises performance of the four-wheel drive to ensure that your Jeep is fulfilling its off-road promise.
Safety is another highlight of the Cherokee, which has earned a five-star Euro NCAP Safety rating. Peace of mind comes from over 60 safety and security features available across the range, including Adaptive Cruise Control that maintains a set distance between you and the next vehicle. Further functions include Electronic Stability Control (ESC), the new Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist and ParkView Rear Back Up Camera, which is available on Limited trim.
