History of the Audi S3 Saloon
The Audi S3 Saloon is a high-performance compact executive car that is part of the Audi S3 range. It was first introduced in 2013 as a four-door saloon version of the Audi S3 hatchback.
The first generation of the Audi S3 Saloon was unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. It featured a sportier design with aggressive front and rear bumpers, a unique grille, and quad exhausts. It was powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 296 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque, paired with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission. The S3 Saloon could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.9 seconds and had a top speed electronically limited to 155 mph. It also featured Audi's Quattro all-wheel drive system and sport-tuned suspension for enhanced performance and handling.
In 2016, Audi introduced a facelifted version of the S3 Saloon. The updated model featured subtle design changes, including revised front and rear bumpers, a new grille, and LED headlights. The engine remained the same, but fuel efficiency improved, and a new performance package was offered that increased power output to 306 horsepower.
The second generation of the Audi S3 Saloon was revealed in 2020. It featured a more aggressive design with a wider grille and sharper lines. The engine was upgraded to a 2.0-liter turbocharged unit producing 306 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque. It also featured a mild-hybrid system that improved fuel efficiency. The S3 Saloon could now accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds.
