The BMW 1 Series: A look at it’s history

The BMW 1 Series was first introduced to the world in 2004, and it has grown to become one of the most popular cars on the market. As one of the first models to be released in the BMW 1 Series, it has gone through several iterations over the years, all with the goal of providing an enjoyable driving experience. Let's take a look at the brief history of the BMW 1 Series.

The First Generation 2004-2011

The first generation of the BMW 1 Series was released in 2004 and was an instant hit. It featured an all-new design with improved performance, comfort, and handling. It also included a variety of features, such as a six-speed manual transmission, dual exhaust, and a range of engine options.

The Second Generation 2011-2019

The second generation of the BMW 1 Series was released in 2011 and improved upon the features of the first generation. It included a more powerful engine lineup, improved comfort, and a range of luxury amenities. It was also the first BMW 1 Series to feature a rear-wheel drive system.

The Third Generation 2019-Present

The third generation of the BMW 1 Series was released in 2019 and it continues to improve upon the features and capabilities of the first two generations. It includes a new design language, improved performance, and an even higher range of luxury amenities. It also features the latest in technology, making it an even more enjoyable and capable vehicle than ever before.

BMW 1 Series Trim Levels

SE

The entry-level trim typically comes with 16-inch alloys, front and rear parking sensors and sat nav.

Sport

You'll pay a little more than for the SE, but you'll get a host of additional features including 17-inch sportier alloy wheels, sport seats and leather steering wheel.

M Sport

A step up from the sport trim the M badging has long represented BMW's sporting and performance excellence. This trim comes with a slightly modified front grille and bumper, larger 18-inch alloys with Blue callipers on some (if chosen when built), heated leather seats and a sportier suspension.

M Sport Shadow Edition

As the name suggests this is a limited edition trim, only on sale from new between July 2017 and June 2019, the shadow edition will feature either 18 or 19-inch alloys, darkened light units and black exterior detailing.

M135i

This trim sees BMW shift away from the rear-wheel drive the 1-series was known for and offer all-wheel drive. In addition it's fitted with two 10.3-inch screens, one replacing the traditional dials behind the steering wheel, plus a 2-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine that generates a massive 302 bhp.

128i

Showing off large 18-inch alloys and low-profile tyres, the 128i combines the black and darkened trim from the Shadow Edition and the spoiler of the M Sport. In addition you'll find the 128i is full of features like cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, auto-dimming rear mirrors, automatic windscreen wipers and much more.
