Alfa Romeo has done it again – the Italian manufacturer that is known for creating handsome cars has crafted a striking masterpiece in the form of the new MiTo. Even the toughest of critics cannot help but be charmed by the MiTo with its dashing good looks and sprightly drive. As Alfa Romeo’s only supermini, it is the smallest in the range and the go-to option for anyone looking for an ultra-stylish, compact city car.

Exterior design

When you cast your eye over the MiTo, you know it is a true Alfa Romeo. It is not just the classic front profile with the inverted triangle grille, elongated oval headlights and softly rounded bonnet that gives it away. It is also in the way it hugs the ground thanks to its low position and minimally adorned exterior with few contours that gives it the air of sophistication we associate with Alfa Romeo.

Inspired by the Alfa Romeo 8C, it has a sporting look that extends to its tail. Here you will find two circular tailgate lights and chrome-plated exhaust pipes. The base of its tail is wider than the arch of the roof, giving it the muscular stance of a sports car. Less than two metres in width and height, it is a dream to park in tight spaces.

Available in five trim levels, you can choose how simple or embellished you want the exterior. The most luxurious of the options, the Collezione, has bronze finishing on the wing mirrors, 17-inch alloy wheels and satin finishing on the headlight and tailgate light surrounds.

Interior design

No expense has been spared in the interior of the MiTo. All trim levels come with air conditioning, a trip computer and a Uconnect™ five-inch color touchscreen for the infotainment. Fitted with Bluetooth technology and voice recognition, you can stay connected while on the move without having to take your hands off the wheel. Upgrade to the Distinctive and you will also get a front centre armrest with storage. Opt for the QV Line for a DAB digital radio and QV upholstery. Or choose the superior Collezione to get inbuilt satellite navigation and faux leather finishing to the seats and door panels.

Performance

When you get behind the wheel of the MiTo, you can choose between three modes using a simple switch named D.N.A. The Dynamic setting gives you a faster more responsive performance; the Natural improves the fuel economy; and All-Weather enhances the grip for when the elements are not on your side.

A wide range of engine choices means you can opt for the one that best suits your driving style. Two 1.4-litre TB MultiAir petrol engines come in a choice of either 140bhp or 170bhp, both of which are automatic and have been finely tuned for better fuel-efficiency. In fact, they save approximately 10 percent on CO2 emissions compared to other conventional engines of the same size. There are also two diesel engines available in 1.3-litre and 1.6-litre sizes.

Technology and safety

All MiTos in the range have LED rear lights to ensure you are always seen on the road. An anti-whiplash device, a collapsible steering wheel and seven airbags help to prevent injuries under impact.
