Founded in 2016 by Michael Smyth — with over 55 years of experience in the motor trade — Motor Match was created to give customers greater choice and value when buying their next car. Having previously set up and owned various businesses, including one of the UK’s leading family-owned car and van franchise dealers Swansway Group, Michael saw a huge missed opportunity for a second business selling the high-quality part-exchanges received through the franchise group. And so, Motor Match was born.
Today, helping people find the right vehicle remains at the heart of what we do. History of Motor Match
2016
Motor Match was founded.
2017
Motor Match Bolton and Stockport opened in January, Motor Match Crewe opened in March.
2019
Motor Match Chester opened in October.
2020
Motor Match Stafford opened in January.
2025
Motor Match Stafford was relocated to Motor Match Stoke in May.
